This is a truly gorgeous sheet, and the most wonderful find! This is the sort of sheet that makes one happy just to have seen it in the flesh!

This would elevate any bedroom into a boudoir worthy of any French Aristocrat!! Not only is it made from fabulous fabric, but the monogram is exquisite and then the additional embroidery stretching the full width of the sheet, takes one's breath away!!

It is made from smooth and very fluid, thick pure linen ''fil'', or the finest linen, loomed from the longest and best strands of the flax plant.

The 4" deep ladderwork hem is a sign of wealth, as is the very complicated and wide ladderwork border.

Firstly the monogram: These large and swirly 'La Belle Epoque' style FC letters are substantial and stand very proud of the fabric. The thick and fat initials are decorated with juicy bunches of grapes and vine leaves, topping off with fine swirls to imitate the tendrils of a grape vine plant.

Then the embroidery: Under the monogram the hand embroidery following the grapevine theme continues the full width of the sheet and to a depth of 4.5" or 11cm wide. Curling leaves, bunches of fat grapes, all along a vine rambling up and down across the whole width. The leaves are adorned with love knot stitch with raised stitch for the curls, again the tendrils are fine and spiral, with the grapes being plump and raised from the fabric. Truly exceptional professional handiwork - even the hems are handsewn.

This would have been part of a bride's dowry linen, and everything about this sheet suggests that she was a wealthy lady.

This sheet is very heavy at 2kg or 4.4 lbs, so would make a wonderful bed cover.

Condition:  This exceptional sheet is in excellent condition, but there is a small tear in the fabric 10" to the left of the monogram - it can be made out in the photo.
