This is a fabulous sheet in every sense of the word!! A huge size, exceptional embroidery, and fine fabric, this is an absolute treat to behold!
It is made from crisp and thick pure linen 'fil', or the finest linen, loomed from the longest and best strands of the flax plant.
With the largest ladderwork hem I have ever seen, 5.5" or 14cm, this was made for a wealthy bride's dowry. Usually a 4" hem is a sign of wealth, so you can see this is beyond exceptional!
The embroidery is also exceptional and done very professionally. The MD or DM monogram has the initials entwined, and in Gothic style, with arrow head letter ends and arabesques or leaf fronds as extra embelishments. The letters are not just highly raised and standing proud from the fabric, but the whole monogram is then outlined in an additional raised stitch, giving it a 'border' and making it really stand out.
The work on this monogram is befitting the quality of the fabric, and no other embroidery is needed - the monogram holds its own.
This sheet is very heavy at 1.96kg or 4.32 lbs, so would make a wonderful bed cover.
Colour: Ivory white .
Dimensions: 92" or 7 and a half foot, 233cm wide by 140" or almost 12 foot, 358cm long.
Dimensions of the monogram: 4.5" or 11cm by 6.5" or 16cm
Condition: This has a couple of tiny rust dots, and a clutch of 3 tiny tiny holes located about 20" from the monogram. Neither is a problem, and mentioned for accuracy. This exceptional sheet is in excellent condition!
